StreetWise Soccer hit Germany

StreetWise Soccer and a selected team travelled to Germany on 4th of February to take on some of the best young footballers from across Europe, at the Buntkickgut Invitational in Munich. Selecting a team from one of our many community projects within Bolton, StreetWise Soccer gave the opportunity for some of our regular young participants to travel and not only represent Bolton but the UK in an international 5 a-side competition.
The selected team were obviously delighted to be asked to play in such as prestigious event, as many don’t have the means to travel or take part such events. The team taken from our Community Project for St James High School which takes place every Friday, (designed to tackle anti-social problems within the community), needless to say had a fantastic experience.
The standard was high and the StreetWise Soccer team was against some tough competition as some of the best football teams across the Germany but also Europe had entered. Our under 18 team unfortunately did not progress through the gruelling group stage while the under 15s finished did advance and finished second overall, losing in the final. Both teams showed great dedication for the team, respect for fellow participants and tremendous sportsmanship throughout.
Dom, a regular at our Friday night Bolton Sessions and StreetWise Soccer voluntear said “I had a great time and I want to say thank you to StreetWise Soccer for giving me the opportunity, We all are grateful for this experience.''
